BSR Urban Mobility  project platform brings together mobility planners, public authorities and experts to exchange experiences, tools and good practices from across the region by organising twelve peer learning and competence building sessions. The sessions are structured around four key themes: urban nodes and governance, sustainable mrban mobility and logistics planning, active mobility, and multimodal mobility hubs and urban logistics.

Project summary

Cities across the Baltic Sea Region want to make everyday travel cleaner, safer and more efficient. However, the shift to emission-free and efficient passenger and freight transport is still too slow. At the same time, EU policies such as Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning (SUMP) and the revised TEN-T regulation require cities of all sizes to strengthen their planning and implementation capacities.

BSR Urban Mobility addresses this challenge by bringing together projects that have developed practical tools, guidance and tested solutions. The platform helps local and regional authorities use this knowledge in practice and turn it into concrete action.

The project platform connects cities, regions and experts, especially TEN-T Urban Nodes. Through peer learning and capacity building, participants share experiences, discuss common barriers such as limited resources or lack of strategic tools, and identify solutions that work in practice. The project platform offers training sessions on key topics such as sustainable mobility planning, urban logistics, active mobility and mobility hubs. It builds on earlier project results and a joint needs assessment. The partners combine this into a training package and further develop the Baltic Sea Region SUMP competence centre that supports continuous learning and exchange.

The project platform also supports cooperation between cities, regions and policymakers. Through transnational dialogue, partners identify key drivers and barriers and ensure that cities’ experiences are reflected in policy development.

As a final outcome, the partners develop the BSR Urban Mobility Policy Framework. They use the project platform’s results and dialogue to create joint policy recommendations. These recommendations help cities improve urban mobility and logistics and strengthen support at national and EU level.
