Our Programme is working with cities and regions across the Baltic Sea to bring forward meaningful initiatives pushing for a greener and more innovative Baltic Sea region while meeting the needs of its residents. The first call of the new Programme 2021-2027 closes with a high number of 98 applications for core projects! Almost a thousand project partners are ready to work across borders to transform the Baltic Sea region into a greener and more resilient place for all of us.

When you face pressing global challenges, it is almost a natural step to join forces with your neighbours to find a common solution to meeting the needs of citizens across the whole Baltic Sea region. Simon Hansen, Mayor of the Danish Guldborgsund Municipality, describes how taking part in transnational projects funded by Interreg Baltic Sea Region helped his city to make urban mobility greener and to advance urban social innovation ultimately improving the lives of its residents.

People with smart ideas on how to make the Baltic Sea region more innovative, water-smart and climate-neutral moved into action. They submitted as many as 42 applications in the first call for applications for small projects.​
