International Workshop "From Pilots to Systems: Making Reuse Work at Scale"

Project: Change(K)now!
Physical Meeting
Workshop to explore how cities can turn reuse from pilot projects into everyday systems.

Description

How can cities move from isolated reuse pilots to fully functioning reusable food-packaging systems?

This international Change(K)now! workshop brought together municipalities, ministries, reuse-system providers, gastronomy, and innovation actors to explore how reusable food packaging can scale from small pilots to integrated urban systems.

Building on experiences from across the Baltic Sea Region and beyond, the workshop focused on the missing link between policy and strategy on the one hand, and real-life implementation on the other. Participants discussed what kinds of reuse systems cities actually need, how governance and regulation can enable them, and how technical interoperability, shared infrastructure and behavioural change must come together to make reuse easy, affordable and normal.

The programme combined keynote addresses, international examples (including Copenhagen, Aarhus, and Lisbon), perspectives from reuse system providers, and interactive working sessions on business models, consumer behaviour and municipal leadership. The second day was dedicated to co-creating concrete policy recommendations and defining next steps for Europe and the Baltic Sea Region.
