Conference “Reusable Use in Municipalities: from Legal Regulation to Practical Solutions”

The conference “Multilateral Use in Municipalities: From Legal Regulation to Practical Decisions” was held in Kaunas on 15 October 2026 to discusse the relevant changes in the regulation of packaging of the European Union, possibilities of using reusable packaging and practical solutions for municipalities.

The reports examined legal requirements, application of circularity principles in public procurement, experience in the use of reusable food packaging and practical solutions in catering establishments and public events. Also presented "Change(K)now!" policy recommendations for municipalities and the experience of Lithuanian cities in implementing reusable systems.

The conference presentations and discussion showed that the transition to reusable solutions requires not only legal regulation, but also consistent cooperation between municipalities, business, event organizers and residents. Sharing experiences, the implementation of pilot initiatives and clear recommendations can help municipalities to create a more sustainable organisation of events and promote more sustainable use of resources.
