Today's public sector institutions face several challenges, one of them is the need to become more responsive and innovative. At the same time, improvement of public services is hampered by obstacles, such as:
Public service providers are typically conservative, cannot afford any risks, and, therefore, tend to stick with the conventional method rather than seek a new one.
3I Solutions for PS project aims to foster innovation in public services by introducing advanced technologies. We aim to help public authorities efficiently use digital technologies such as augmented or extended reality (AR & XR) to deliver public services. This project develops solutions, processes, and practices to help public organizations foster innovations. We also enhance building new partnerships and capacities and create good practices for dissemination in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR).
Project outputs:
The City of Radom and Smiltene municipality, in collaboration with AR-GO lab Oy (Finland), are developing and piloting our cutting-edge metaverse AI-powered platform CITYA! This solution aims to improve public informational services and citizens’ engagement in decision-making. The common goal of municipalities and solution developers is to create a user-friendly and easy-to-use virtual space with different functionalities, such as participatory voting, info-desk with AI consultants, and visualization of city investment plans. The solution for Smiltene is more focused on outdoor use in conjunction with smart benches and more suitable for using smart devices, presenting the tourist attractions and services available in Smiltene.
The hackathon Hack the Future: 24h Brain Activity for Public Sector Solutions is designed to leverage the power of cutting-edge technologies to solve public service challenges across the Baltic Sea Region. Participants contribute to solutions that enhance efficiency, transparency, and effectiveness in public services. Plus, it is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with innovators, developers, and tech experts.
The Innovation Handbook for Small Cities contains a gallery of examples of city innovations and a roadmap (“building blocks”) for innovations. This guide aims to enhance resource efficiency, improve the quality of public services, and tackle various societal issues like climate change, demographic shifts, urban congestion, and social and economic inequalities with Public Service Innovation (PSI). By optimizing resources through PSI, municipalities can ensure quality service provision within limited budgets.
Thanks to the Interreg BSR support, each solution is developed in a transnational environment with the contribution of project partners, associated organizations, and stakeholders. INTERREG funding has become a platform to support and promote our solutions to many recipients.
