GlassCircle

The project GlassCircle helps glass fiber manufacturers reduce the environmental impacts of glass fiber waste by bringing it back into use.
Project summary

Society and public authorities are pushing industries to reduce the overall negative impact on the environment, e.g., demanding sustainability. During glass fiber manufacturing and many composite manufacturing processes, a significant amount of residue material is generated. Currently, this residue of glass fiber products is buried in a landfill. Not only can it be regarded as environmental pollution, but it also creates additional costs, waste and inefficient material use within the glass fiber industry. The project aims to create a "GlassCircle" database where companies with glass fiber residue can find other partners interested in this residue, thus reducing the amount discarded in landfills. The project brings together industry, experts, scientists, and public authorities within the field to exchange knowledge and discuss the possible solutions and necessary next steps for faster change from linear to circular economy.
