GlassCircle

The project GlassCircle helps glass fiber manufacturers reduce the environmental impacts of glass fiber waste by bringing it back into use.
Project summary

Society and public authorities are pushing industries to reduce the overall negative impact on environment, e.g. sustainability. During glass fiber manufacturing, as well as in many composite manufacturing processes significant amount of residue material is generated. Currently this residue glass fibers product are buried in landfill and since it is considered as a hazard should be considered as pollution to our environment. This creates additional costs, waste and inefficient material use within glass fiber industry. This issue is complex and the solution can be achieved only by bringing together industry, experts and scientists, as well as public authorities within the field - exchange knowledge and discuss the possible solutions and necessary next steps for faster change from linear to circular economy within glass fiber and composite industry. The project main target group is small and medium enterprises, but large enterprises will also be invited to join the projects activities. It is expected that with the planned project activities trust will be established between different companies within glass fiber industry, thus providing opportunities for future collaborations. Wide presence of companies together will ensure faster change from linear to circular economy within the target industry.
