A resilient future for coastal communities
In coastal regions around the Baltic Sea, the impacts of climate change are becoming increasingly evident, posing challenges for local communities, businesses, and authorities alike. The BEACH-SOS project aims to confront these challenges head-on, ensuring the sustainability and vitality of beach recreation and tourism in the face of a changing climate. Recently, we had the opportunity to sit down with Rimants Lulis from Saulkrasti Municipality, one of the partners of the project, to discover more about how this project can benefit the municipality and the community in Saulkrasti.
Celebrating the long-standing cooperation with Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland
Step into the journey of the 2004 EU enlargement and its impact on transnational cooperation when Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland evolved in the Interreg Baltic Sea Region community as new EU members. 20 years after, we celebrate the strengthened collaboration that has driven a multitude of projects aimed at fostering a greener and more resilient future for the Baltic Sea region.

On the occasion of the EU Youth Week, we dive deeper into several Interreg Baltic Sea Region projects to prove the added value of Interreg for young people in the region: from improving children’s well-being to co-creating their living spaces and future employment environments.

Added value of Interreg
Transnational cooperation in action!
From 24 to 27 June, the European Parliament will host the exhibition “Through the Youth Lens: Stories of Transnational Cooperation” – a powerful showcase of how young people are shaping a more connected, inclusive and forward-looking Europe.
The exhibition is led by Interreg Volunteer Youth (IVYs) – young Europeans who are bringing real stories from the ground into the spotlight. Drawing on their personal experiences in Interreg projects, the IVYs reveal how transnational cooperation is delivering meaningful results across Europe’s 13 cooperation areas – from coastal resilience and green innovation to youth empowerment and digital inclusion.
