Description

An electrifying atmosphere, tangible euphoria, the Fan Zone is more than just a place to watch football together. ‘Football is a society that is united within 90 minutes,’ said Günter Grass - and we all agree: the environmental impact of major events, not just those centred around sport, must be improved. Circular economy is the magic word when it comes to conserving resources. Well thought-out waste and reusable concepts play a decisive role here. We experienced this together in the exciting atmosphere of the Fan Zone.

At the expert discussion ‘More than a match’, experts discussed the challenges and opportunities of the circular economy using the Fan Zone as an example. Event organisers, the city, researchers and service providers discussed how waste can be effectively avoided, what effect the use of reusable tableware has, how remaining waste can be consistently separated - and what hurdles need to be overcome in order to set new standards.

The first trends in waste prevention measures were analysed together on site. The exclusive behind-the-scenes tour provided honest insights into implementation on site.
