ChemClimCircle-2 (CCC-2) is dedicated to a challenge in policy integration that is not yet ubiquitous: the linking of climate protection, circularity and chemicals reduction objectives in public procurement. For sustainable transformation to be comprehensively promoted, materials, goods, works and services must be circular, climate-neutral AND tox-free. Procurement criteria have to reflect this ambition. The project´s so-called "ChemClimCircle approach to Green Public Procurement" provides solutions to a circular future and an effective measure to fight climate change. However, it is complex, it must be trained and it needs (more) political will. The project will pilot, document and evaluate the ChemClimCircle approach in ca. 50 procurement use cases at 10 municipal and 3 regional authorities in the Baltic Sea Region (accompanied by a competent advisory team) - both in terms of the innovative procurement process and the environmental impact. A corresponding monitoring concept and impact assessment criteria will be developed and – together with a learning programme – incorporated into the so-called "ChemClimCircle Navigator for Green Public Procurement", the final product (solution) of the project. It will be supported, promoted and replicated by our 23 Associated Organisations and – with the help of the Navigator and our networks – made available for all public authorities in the Baltic Sea Region. Policy uptake at BSR, national and local levels will be facilitated.
