Moods and thoughts from EU Week of Regions and Cities
12 December 2023
DistanceLAB had a great visibility at the European Week of Regions and Cities 2023 in Brussels. Project manager Leena Toivanen gave a live presentation about DistanceLAB project.
Her message was the importance of the ability to innovate and actively keep innovation up. The municipalities and business support organisations have an important role in putting innovations into practise. Leena pointed out, that remote work is concretely creating new skills, new perspectives and success to work communities. Cohesion policy is also important in remote business: how do you make sure different regions of EU have an equal standing in being able to utilize digitalization and to develop. It is essential to learn from others and share innovations cross-borders.
Also many other speakers talked about the importance of recognizing digital maturity.
Leena Toivanen and Laura Palovuori from Centria noticed during the event the importance of regional development and it’s prominent role in EU activities. They felt enthusiastic about being part of a project creating tools, that increase digital abilities and therefore digital equality in different regions.
– Brussels is a fascinating city where you could truly experience Europe gathering together – you could see it both in the event as in the street scene, states Laura.
