On 7 October 2025, the Association of Polish Municipalities of the Pomerania Euroregion (SGPEP) organised a training session for representatives of more than 86 member local authorities and institutions, as part of the international Interreg Baltic Sea Region project Change(K)now!.
The training focused on the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and the project's activities aimed at promoting reusable packaging systems and advancing the circular economy.
Participants learned about the new European regulatory framework for packaging and packaging waste, its implications for public authorities, and the importance of preparing for the transition towards more sustainable packaging solutions. The session also presented the objectives and activities of Change(K)now!, highlighting opportunities to reduce single-use packaging in catering, takeaway food services, and public events.
Particular attention was given to the role of municipalities and counties in promoting circular practices through public procurement, sustainable event organisation, and cooperation with catering providers and other stakeholders.
The training provided an opportunity to raise awareness of upcoming regulatory changes, share knowledge, and encourage local authorities to consider practical measures that can help reduce packaging waste and support the wider adoption of reusable solutions.
By reaching a broad network of its member local authorities, SGPEP contributed to building capacity for the implementation of the PPWR and strengthening knowledge of circular economy solutions that can be applied in everyday public-sector activities.
