BEACH-SOS meets Saulkrasti

We are excited to announce the first BEACH-SOS workshop titled “BEACH-SOS Coastal Tourism and Climate Change in Latvia ” which will take place in Saulkrasti, Latvia. The workshop aims to bring together local authorities, businesses, and communities to discuss the challenges faced by the Baltic Sea coastal tourism industry and to develop sustainable solutions for the future. The workshop will also address the topic of climate change adaptation in coastal tourism. The Baltic Sea coastal tourism industry is facing several challenges due to climate change, including rising sea levels, increased frequency of extreme weather events, and ocean acidification. The workshop aims to bring together local authorities, businesses, and communities to discuss climate challenges and to develop sustainable solutions for the future.
The workshop will be held over three days, starting from Tuesday, January 23rd, to Thursday, January 25th. The sessions will be as follows:
- Day 1 (Tuesday, January 23rd): BEACH-SOS meets municipal authorities of Saulkrasti to discuss about the future of Saulkrasti under climate change.
- Day 2 (Wednesday, January 24th): BEACH-SOS meets the people of Saulkrasti and neighboring towns to discuss about the future of the coastal tourims under climate change. Two sessions are planned, one with a local focus and the other with a national focus.
- Day 3 (Thursday, January 25th): BEACH-SOS meets the future generations of Saulkrasti.
The workshop will be an excellent opportunity to learn about Baltic Sea coastal tourism and to exchange ideas with local public authorities, local communities and experts in the field about what could be needed to adapt to climate change.
