Interreg says “no” to hazardous chemicals in construction materials, and calls for municipalities to set good examples and inspire others in the Baltic Sea region and beyond. 

MC, PIFs, COs… these abbreviations can sound very confusing when you enter the Interreg world. You will learn them just like I did during these past six months. I am here to tell you about my short journey in the heart of Interreg Baltic Sea Region, in Rostock, Germany. ​

In the third call for project applications, the Programme has received as many as 107 applications with a variety of ideas on how to build innovative and climate-neutral societies in the Baltic Sea region. ​

In coastal regions around the Baltic Sea, the impacts of climate change are becoming increasingly evident, posing challenges for local communities, businesses, and authorities alike. The BEACH-SOS project aims to confront these challenges head-on, ensuring the sustainability and vitality of beach recreation and tourism in the face of a changing climate. Recently, we had the opportunity to sit down with Rimants Lulis from Saulkrasti Municipality, one of the partners of the project, to discover more about how this project can benefit the municipality and the community in Saulkrasti.

Step into the journey of the 2004 EU enlargement and its impact on transnational cooperation when Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland evolved in the Interreg Baltic Sea Region community as new EU members. 20 years after, we celebrate the strengthened collaboration that has driven a multitude of projects aimed at fostering a greener and more resilient future for the Baltic Sea region.

In a bid to capitalise on the wealth of projects underway in our region, Interreg Baltic Sea Region is getting ready for a call for project platforms. Project partners will take a closer look at the emerging project results and consolidate them to maximise the impact of the cooperation.
