CREWS at the EUSBSR Annual Forum 2026 in Tallinn

Project: CREWS
Physical Meeting
The CREWS project will contribute to the 17th EUSBSR Annual Forum, “Resilience Edition”.

Description

The CREWS project will contribute to the 17th EUSBSR Annual Forum, “Resilience Edition”, taking place on 11–13 May 2026 in Tallinn, Estonia. The Forum will bring together policymakers, local and regional authorities, researchers and civil society representatives from across the Baltic Sea Region to strengthen cooperation and explore solutions to shared challenges.

Under the theme of resilience, discussions will address regional security, demographic change, climate and environmental challenges, and the need for stronger governance and cross-sectoral collaboration.

CREWS will showcase how cooperation between public authorities, civil society organisations and volunteers can strengthen disaster preparedness and crisis response. Through its work on community engagement and digital tools for volunteer resource management, the project contributes to building more resilient communities across the Baltic Sea Region.

On 12 May, as part of the Forum’s official programme, three projects working on disaster risk reduction and crisis preparedness — ClimaResponse, CREWS and BALTFLOODS — will join forces to deliver an interactive flood simulation and role-play exercise based on real-life data from a major flood event in Kristiansand, Norway. During the hands-on workshop, participants will step into the roles of local actors and take on specific crisis-response responsibilities in a simulation modelled on the October 2017 flood that brought Kristiansand to a standstill.

The Forum provides an opportunity to exchange experiences with other regional initiatives, strengthen cross-border partnerships and explore practical approaches to addressing shared security and resilience challenges.
