Materials on the pilot Sensory garden in Nissi

29 December 2025
Technical details

The model sensory garden in Nissi transforms the old school foundation into a small, inclusive public space for reflection, learning about emotions, and introducing the concept of self-support. Anchored by a historic stone wall and varied tactile surfaces, the garden pairs plantings with emotion-themed supportive phrases, offers movement-enhancing paths and swings, and provides seating arrangements for individual rest or social interaction. Features include a rainwater gutter waterfall, accessible ramp, planting beds with soft grasses, textured paving, educational elements introducing various wood species, all of them creating a layered, sensory-rich environment that invites curiosity, self-support, and intergenerational activities.
