Technical Seminar - Evaluating Tools

CIRC-2-ZERO Technical Seminar 2.10.2025 

The CIRC-2-ZERO Project held a Technical Seminar on 2. October 2025 online for the development of the Digital Twin Demo Platform (DTDP).  The session brought partners together to review the tools identified through the market research. These tools support the two main modules: Circular Product Design and Circular Value Chain Design, and include example tools such as life cycle assessment, material selectors, and value chain canvases. During the seminar, partners also defined evaluation criteria, shaped a shared project vision, and collaboratively shortlisted the most promising options for further assessment. 

Partners worked in small groups to review the tools listed in market research, discussing each tool to understand its purpose, strengths, and relevance. After the discussion, partners evaluated how well each tool aligns with the needs of the DTDP. This helped create a clear and structured overview of which tools show the most potential for further development work. The goal was to build a broad, structured overview of what exists nationally in each partner country and internationally in Europe-wide. 

Partners then worked on defining the selection criteria (usability, clarity of outputs, system requirements, price) for evaluating tools. They considered what matters most in software from two viewpoints: the user perspective and the developer perspective. Depending on their role, partners focused on the criteria most relevant to them. This exercise encouraged thinking beyond existing tools and imagining the future capability of the platform. 

The workshop wrapped up with a focused closing session where partners reviewed the day’s key learnings, identified open questions that still need attention, and noted areas where deeper analysis will be valuable for the next stages of development. Partners also agreed on the next steps for the detailed evaluation phase and the continued development of DTDP Module 2.
