Description

The RESIST team participated in the 15th EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region Annual Forum in Visby, Sweden, showcasing their project and engaging with stakeholders on social innovation and transformation. The event highlighted key themes of sustainability, security, and resilience, with discussions on the war in Ukraine and its regional impact, setting the stage for continued collaboration at the 2025 forum in Gdańsk.

On October 30-31, 2024, part of the RESIST team actively participated in the 15th EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) Annual Forum, held in Visby, Sweden. This prestigious event focused on the crucial themes of sustainability, security, and resilience, attracting 650 key stakeholders engaged in regional cooperation across 20 countries. Since its inception, the Annual Forum has served as a vital platform for cross-border collaboration and is organized each year. The 2025 EUSBSR Annual Forum is set to take place in Gdańsk, Poland.

The team proudly showcased the RESIST project in the Networking Village, hosted at the stand of PA (Policy Area) Education. This provided an excellent opportunity to connect with various participants who expressed significant interest in the themes of social innovation and social transformation. It was particularly rewarding to witness the enthusiasm for these topics among attendees. Networking with other initiatives, especially those within the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme, was another highlight of the team’s participation.

In addition to presenting the project, the RESIST team attended a variety of workshops and panel discussions. These sessions often addressed the ongoing and unjustified war in Ukraine, highlighting its profound impacts on the EU and the Baltic Sea Region. The war’s implications resonated deeply throughout the forum, underscoring the importance of resilience and collaboration in times of crisis.

The Annual Forum was hosted by the Swedish Government in partnership with the Nordic Council of Ministers. The event was organized by the Gotland County Administrative Board in close collaboration with the Secretariat of the Nordic Council of Ministers, the Government Offices of Sweden, the Norden Association Sweden, the Swedish Institute, Region Gotland, and the Baltic Sea Strategy Point.

The event received co-funding from the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme, the Swedish Government, the Nordic Council of Ministers, the Swedish Institute, and Region Gotland. The RESIST team extends its gratitude to the organizers and co-funders for facilitating such a meaningful event that fosters regional cooperation and dialogue.

We look forward to continuing our engagement in these essential discussions and sharing insights at the next Annual Forum in Gdańsk in 2025!
