Climate-4-CAST Highlights Achievements at the EUSBSR Annual Forum in Visby
17 November 2024
On October 30 – 31, the Climate-4-CAST project took part at the 15th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR), which was held in Visby, Sweden. This year’s forum, themed “Sustainability, Resilience, and Security”, brought together around 650 participants from 20 countries, fostering a dynamic space for collaboration aimed at strengthening sustainable cooperation across the Baltic Sea Region.
Climate-4-CAST in its activities directly contributes to the EUSBSR Policy Area (PA) Energy: the project strengthens transnational cooperation on energy transition and climate action work, providing a concrete tool to facilitate the implementation of cities’ climate mitigation measures. The Forum, which is the main regional event of the year, provided a great opportunity to highlight this connection, and so the Climate-4-CAST project came to the spotlight at the PA Energy stand at the Networking Village.
This vibrant exhibition space was designed to connect stakeholders, including representatives from national, regional, and local authorities, universities, and international organizations. The PA Energy stand offered a key platform for showcasing innovative approaches and solutions that advance the region’s energy transition and climate ambitions.
Representatives from HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU) and the Union of the Baltic Cities Sustainable Cities Commission (UBC SCC) both actively promoted Climate-4-CAST during the event. Co-organizing the PA Energy stand alongside PA Energy coordinators and fellow energy-focused projects such as @CommitClimate, @GreenIndustrialAreas, and @EasyEnergy, the Climate-4-CAST team engaged participants with a visually compelling display featuring informational leaflets, a roll-up banner, digital presentation, and direct dialogues to illustrate the project’s achievements. Climate-4-CAST also made an additional impact through its presence at the UBC stand at the Networking Village, further enhancing its visibility and reach within the Baltic Sea Region community.
The Annual Forum proved invaluable for Climate-4-CAST, facilitating connections with experts, policymakers, and regional leaders who are committed to advancing climate action. Through engaging discussions and shared insights, the Climate-4-CAST team demonstrated the project’s role and contribution in supporting energy transition and sustainable development across the Baltic Sea Region, highlighting its contributions to the shared climate and sustainability goals that unite the EUSBSR community.
