The Estonian Network of Country Development Centers organized a seminar on how data-driven reporting facilitates sustainability reporting. One of the presenters was Adele Johanson from the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.

Johanson discussed the implications of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting requirements for direct reporting entities and how these requirements affect their partner companies. Johanson also introduced a new ESG Tool currently under development, supported by Interreg Baltic Sea Region.

Johanson highlighted that reporting is a gentler way to influence companies compared to outright bans. Implementing standards is essential to mitigate impacts on the planet and society. Moving towards a more sustainable business model is crucial, with the goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
