New report shows: Fewer building materials containing carcinogenic and endocrine disrupting substances are used in construction projects in Sweden

24 October 2024
Technical details

Some of today’s building materials contain hazardous chemicals, including both hormone-disrupting and carcinogenic substances. However, new figures from Byggvarubedömningen show that the use of these products has halved in Sweden recent years.

Through a deep dive into our database, we have extracted statistics showing over a halving of these hazardous substances since 2017 when we began measurements.

In the report, except for some very interesting statistics from the construction projects, we answer questions such as:

What is the use of hormone-disrupting and carcinogenic substances in building materials?

What concerns are there among the public regarding the use of these chemicals?

What are the biggest challenges our member companies face in replacing these substances in the future?
