Why Was the App Created?

For many children, the idea of going to the hospital can be scary. Unfamiliar environments, strange equipment, and new faces can cause anxiety and fear. At the same time, hospitals often lack the time and resources to properly prepare children and their families for what’s ahead. That’s where the idea for the Mobile Hospital web application was born — to bridge this gap with a playful, informative, and child-friendly solution.

What Is Mobile Hospital?

Mobile Hospital is a web-based application designed to help children and their parents prepare for hospital visits in a safe and engaging way. Using interactive features and 360-degree images, the app introduces the hospital environment in a way that feels more like a game than a guide. It helps reduce anxiety by making the unknown familiar — and even fun.

Links to the application have been added to the websites of participating hospitals, and final seminars were held in each country to share the results and encourage adoption. Associated organizations helped create and evaluate the content, and the app is now available for their target groups as well.

Other hospitals and patient organizations were also informed during the final seminars — and they, too, gave positive feedback.

A Game-Changing Experience in Turku

As one Finnish post put it:

In Turku, the team went the extra mile and developed the Mobile Hospital game, where children can explore the hospital environment in a fun and safe way before their visit. (Linkedln post available only in Finnish.)
