Hands-On learning with local students

On the beach of Gdańsk, Race of the Baltic hosted a demonstration for the Royal Couple’s delegation, showcasing how applying gypsum to agricultural land can bind phosphorus in the soil, reducing nutrient runoff into waterways. The method, supported by extensive research, offers a practical and scalable tool for mitigating eutrophication of the Baltic Sea. Involving a local school class in the hands-on activities highlighted how environmental science can be made tangible for young learners and the importance of community engagement in protecting the shared Baltic Sea.
