Gypsum Awareness Shared at Two Agricultural Events in Poland
09 October 2024
On June 14–16 , representatives of Institute of Technology and Life Sciences (ITP-PIB) participated in the large agricultural event, Field Days, held in Boguchwała near Rzeszów. The event was organized by the Subcarpathian Agricultural Advisory Centre in Rzeszów. Field Days provided an opportunity for discussions with representatives from the Agricultural Advisory Centers and the Ministry of Agriculture. Also farmers and students from agricultural schools were visiting our stand.
On September 7–8, ITP-PIB also took part in Agropromotion held in Stary Sącz, organized by the Lesser Poland Agricultural Advisory Centre in Karniowice.
Engaging Farmers in the Use of Gypsum for Soil Improvement
At both events, ITP-PIB presented information on new scientific achievements and their applications in agriculture: (1) the importance of soil structure for crop productivity, (2) reducing phosphorus losses, and (3) the benefits of using gypsum as a soil additive. Also the animation “The Gypsum Method in Water Protection” produced in GYPREG project and brochures on gypsum use were distributed. Additionally, methods for assessing soil condition and nutrient content by determining basic parameters were presented.
At the Stary Sącz event, visitors were invited to fill out a survey aimed at understanding farmers’ and advisors’ attitudes toward using gypsum as a soil additive. By providing information about the gypsum method, we sought to engage farmers in collaboration with the GYPREG project.
