Baltic Sea Day, celebrated annually on the last Thursday in August in several countries, aims to raise awareness of the various aspects of our shared Sea and its protection. This year, on August 29, various events took place along the Baltic Sea coast, offering opportunities to learn about the Sea, ways to protect it, and its culture and history.

Gypsum Application Featured in Turku and Helsinki

In Turku, the GYPREG project partnered with the Finnish gypsum initiative GYPSUM to present both projects at an event called “On the Surface” outside the Forum Marinum museum. Information about how gypsum can reduce phosphorus runoff from agricultural fields, thus helping to protect the Baltic Sea was provided to the visitors. Visitors could also play a large water protection board game. The water protection game was also available in concurrent event, Itämerifest, in Helsinki.
