On 5–6 September 2026, representatives of ITP-PIB took part in Agropromocja 2026 in Stary Sącz, Poland, presenting the activities and results of the GYPREG project. The agricultural fair is one of the major annual meeting points for the agricultural sector in the Małopolska region, bringing together farmers, agricultural advisors, producers, institutions and other stakeholders.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to share GYPREG results directly with people working in agriculture and to discuss practical approaches to sustainable farming. The ITP-PIB stand attracted farmers, agricultural advisors, young people and local residents interested in learning more about the project and the use of gypsum in agriculture.

Particular attention was given to the potential of agricultural gypsum to reduce phosphorus losses from agricultural land and its transport to water bodies.

Visitors were introduced to the objectives of the GYPREG project and its work to develop and promote practical solutions for reducing agricultural phosphorus losses. Discussions covered the effects of gypsum application on soil structure and properties, soil aggregate stability and phosphorus transport.

Results from field trials conducted within the GYPREG project were also presented, together with practical information on gypsum application under different soil conditions. Visitors could explore information and training materials on the use of gypsum in agriculture as well as materials presenting GYPREG activities and results.

Learning from farmers’ experiences

Direct discussions with farmers were an important part of the event. Farmers and GYPREG experts exchanged experiences on topics such as gypsum application rates and methods, effects on soil properties and the potential to reduce phosphorus losses from agricultural fields.

The discussions also provided valuable insights into farmers’ experiences, questions and needs. This practical feedback is important when considering how research results and new approaches can be applied effectively in agricultural practice.

Participation in Agropromocja 2026 helped bring GYPREG results directly to farmers and agricultural advisors in Poland and raise awareness of the links between soil management, phosphorus losses and water protection.

By exchanging research findings and practical experiences with the agricultural community, GYPREG contributes to the wider discussion on sustainable farming practices and ways to reduce agricultural nutrient losses to waters across the Baltic Sea region.
