Technical details

The BSSSC Annaul Conference took place in Kiel, Germany, on September 19th & 20th, 2024. The GreenIndustrialAreas project was represented by its Lead partner, the Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, Tourism and Labour Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The event was opened with a panel discussion with various stakeholders from science, politics and society on the topic of “Challenges in the Baltic Sea Region”. One topic that was on the minds of all participants was the political situation in the various countries, which is increasingly moving to the right. This was accompanied by migration as a major topic, resulting in security in the countries and the question of how to strengthen the Baltic Sea region together despite these major challenges.

Following the panel discussion and several presentations, participants had the opportunity to take part in various workshops. On the first day, the event focused on the topic of offshore wind energy. Maciek Mierzwinski summarized an interesting exchange as a growing and important industry.

On the second day, Interreg projects were addressed in the workshop, including GreenIndustrialAreas. Ronald Lieske emphasized very well how important it is in Interreg projects that the projects continue even after the end of the project period. Overall, many new contacts were made at the event and interesting impressions were gained.
