16 October 2025
Lintukangas is a developing industrial area just 10km out of Jyväskylä’s city centre next to the TEN-T road E75. The area has been a pilot case in Green Industrial Areas -project and has been planned as a sustainable area for logistics and manufacturing industry. Next to the area, there are companies like Meltex and Ksteel, and the upcoming Lintukangas 1, 2, and 3 areas are expanding industrial operations there.
Lintukangas has raised a lot of interest in companies and the ones locating there are taking sustainability seriously. First company to start building is Fluiconnecto, who’s starting construction soon, already this fall. The CEO of Fluiconnecto, Raimo Tuominen, says that the Green Industrial Areas -project has affected on their plans to be more sustainable, as well as the questions and pressure from their customers. Fluiconnecto’s factory will be approximately 5 000 square meters and will replace their old facilities in Jyväskylä. They participated in the Green Industrial Areas project including a trip to Neustrelitz and Schwerin. They are now planning geothermal heat pumps and solar panels in their hall, designed to showcase sustainable industrial architecture and operations. This aligns with the city’s broader vision of promoting green technologies and efficient land use also in its industrial zones.
While Fluiconnecto is moving forward, other development projects in Lintukangas are awaiting their start. Companies such as Lindab and Konnegroup are timing their investments according to a more favorable economic situation but remain committed to the area and sustainability. They have plans for modern and sustainable facilities of 7000 and 3000 square meters, which will add value to the area as the market recovers.
Sales of plots began quickly earlier this year, and the construction activity is now expected to ramp up in 2026. Fluiconnecto’s move is seen as a key milestone in establishing Lintukangas as a flagship site for green industrial development in Central Finland. Good connections with the highway and growing sustainable area are raising interest in locating to Lintukangas and is expected to bring many new jobs to the area.
