Technical details

Partners of the GreenIndustrialArea project from Central Finland – the City of Jyväskylä and the Regional Council of Central Finland – organised the Central Finland closing event on 11 December 2025 in Jyväskylä. The seminar was held jointly with the EU-funded DALI project and took place at Viilu.

The event brought together around 50 participants representing 39 companies and organisations, including experts, businesses and stakeholders active in the development of green industrial areas. At the GreenIndustrialAreas exhibition stand, project partners presented key project outputs, such as roll-ups, flyers, the lighting guide, the project’s toolbox and the project’s certification standard.

The programme provided a comprehensive overview of the progress and results of the project in Central Finland, combining practical solutions, research perspectives and future visions. Presentations highlighted the region’s strong commitment and capacity to promote sustainability, renewable energy use and circular-economy approaches within industrial areas. Networking opportunities and practical examples further strengthened cooperation among participants.

During the afternoon session, expert presentations addressed topics including advanced energy forecasting based on high-resolution electricity data (eWatt), base load measurement and fault detection, as well as monitoring and optimisation of energy consumption using 10-second measurement intervals. Valmet presented its approach to sustainability, safety and material technology optimisation in customer services and projects. TANA shared lessons learned from unexpected disruptions, focusing on risk preparedness, supply-chain security and flexibility, and illustrated how resilience can be strengthened through proactive planning.

Timi Tiira from the City of Jyväskylä presented the opportunities offered by the GreenIndustrialAreas project and showcased how its outcomes support the sustainable development of industrial areas. The event concluded with a stand-up performance by Finnish author Mikko Väismaa.

The closing event underlined the importance of cooperation, knowledge exchange and networking, and laid a strong foundation for continued collaboration beyond the lifetime of the GreenIndustrialAreas project.
