"Easy Energy" supports 28kWp photovoltaics for Hamburg sports
25 July 2025
The photovoltaic systems on the roof of the “Haus des Sports” in Hamburg are an important part of the sustainability concept of the Hamburger Sportbund e.V. (Hamburg Sports Association).
So far, a small system on the sunshade and a large system on the flat roof have been completed. Two modules are still being mounted vertically on the facade.
To save money, HSB board member Christian Poon and his colleague Olaf Schultchen got to work and installed the substructure and solar panels for the flat roof system themselves. A specialist company will then handle the electrical installation.
With 28 kWp, the system will generate approximately 25,000 kWh of electricity annually. Most of the self-generated electricity will be used directly in the building.
Early on, an exchange took place between the Hamburger Sportbund and ZEBAU, as an “Easy Energy” partner, regarding the installation of the photovoltaic systems and the possibilities for self-contribution by the club’s employees and board members. The findings of the BSR Interreg project “PV4All” and the resulting insights and connections to self-construction initiatives were also utilized for this purpose.
Ann-Christin Rebbin and Lars Beckmannshagen from ZEBAU visited the site on July 23, 2025 to gathered information about the installation of the photovoltaic modules
