International conference "Circular makerspaces" to take place in Valmiera

04 February 2025
On March 5, experts, makers, designers, and innovators from across the Baltic Sea Region will gather in Valmiera, Latvia, for the "Circular Makerspaces" conference. This international event will explore the role of makerspaces in fostering circular economy principles, promoting material reuse, and driving sustainable innovation. The conference will also be accessible online, ensuring broad participation from stakeholders across industries and sectors.
Technical details

The event is organized within the framework of the “Circular spaces” project, funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region programme. The project aims to create and strengthen a network of circular makerspaces – collaborative hubs where creativity, sustainability, and resource efficiency come together to address environmental and economic challenges.

The “Circular makerspaces” conference will feature inspiring speeches, and an engaging panel discussion. Experts from makerspaces in Denmark, Latvia, Norway, and Germany will share their experiences and explore how makerspaces can foster sustainable business models, reduce waste, and strengthen community-driven innovation.

The speeches will include case studies from Valmiera region businesses and Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences. A story about new products developed within the project “Circular spaces” by an international team will inspire all participants. To showcase and inspire creation of unique circular ideas, a workshop will be held where each participant will be able to create something new with reused materials by applying circular economy principles in a tangible way.

Register for the event to broaden your perspective on circular economy and its principle integration in creative work and businesses!
