Piloting Reusable Packaging Systems at Hamburg's Weekly Markets
03 October 2024
The Baltic Environmental Forum Germany (BEF) is excited to announce the launch of an innovative pilot as part of the Change(K)now! project. Starting this autumn, we’re bringing sustainable packaging solutions to Hamburg’s vibrant weekly markets!
In collaboration with mediterranean delicatessen vendor Suri Signature GmbH, BEF will test various reusable packaging systems at two popular Hamburg markets: From 10 October 2024, visitors to Goldbekufermarkt will have the opportunity to experience a range of eco-friendly options, including stainless steel containers, glass jars, and plastic-free disposable alternatives. The initiative expands to Isemarkt on 5 November, introducing the Rebowl system alongside glass jars and plastic-free disposables.
This pilot project aims to significantly reduce single-use packaging in food delivery systems while comparing the effectiveness and acceptance of various reusable solutions. By engaging directly with vendors and customers, we seek to raise awareness about sustainable packaging options and gather crucial data on the practicality of implementing reusable systems in market settings. Through this hands-on approach, we’re not just testing alternatives – we’re paving the way for a more sustainable future in food packaging across our region.
Join the Change! Visit the Suri stands at Goldbekufermarkt and Isemarkt to experience these eco-friendly packaging options firsthand. Your participation and feedback are crucial in shaping the future of sustainable food packaging in our region!
