How BSR Go-abroad helps SMEs go international – with hands-on support, coaching, and cross-border cooperation.
Technical details

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the Baltic Sea Region face a common challenge: they have the potential to grow internationally, but often lack the resources, experience, or networks to take that first step abroad.

The BSR Go-abroad project brings together partners from several countries with one common goal: to make internationalisation easier, more accessible, and more effective for SMEs in the region. The project creates an environment where going global does not have to be overwhelming – instead, it becomes a guided, supported, and strategic process.

By combining local insight with transnational cooperation, the project delivers tools and advisory services that help businesses assess their export readiness, identify suitable markets, and connect with partners abroad. Business coaches and innovation agencies involved in the project provide hands-on support tailored to the needs of their local companies – but always with a cross-border perspective in mind.

One example of the project’s outreach took place during Infoshare 2025, a major international tech and startup event in Gdańsk. There, project representatives engaged directly with visitors, SMEs, and ecosystem stakeholders, further increasing awareness and access to project services.

As of mid-term, the project has facilitated numerous interactions with SMEs, provided direct coaching, and laid the groundwork for long-term internationalisation. Partners continue working together to refine tools and test new service models, with the goal of achieving lasting impact.

Transnational cooperation is not just a background element – it is central to the project’s effectiveness. Thanks to funding from Interreg Baltic Sea Region, the BSR Go-abroad project is building bridges between local support and global opportunities, ensuring that no SME is left behind in today’s connected world.
