On May 7, 2025, the Blue Supply Chains project was prominently featured at the Reference Group Meeting for the Renewable 2030 Project, held online via Teams. Under the theme “Transformation in Shipping and Ports,” Desirée Grahn and Karl Jivén from the IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute delivered a 30-minute presentation, sparking engaging discussions and questions from the audience.

The Renewable 2030 Project aims to boost the production and use of renewable fuels in Central Norrland, with a focus on transitioning ports in Jämtland and Västernorrland to sustainable practices. The Blue Supply Chains presentation highlighted practical steps to achieve this, drawing on the project’s findings and methodologies. Key topics included current port requirements, ongoing developments, and actionable measures regional ports can adopt—such as implementing OPS and emission-free goods handling.

The audience, comprising representatives from regional authorities, energy networks, and companies, expressed strong interest in further collaboration. The Blue Supply Chain’s approach resonated with participants, who are keen to apply similar strategies in their region to support the green transition.

Discussions initiated during the meeting are set to continue, with plans to build on the Blue Supply Chain’s methodologies to drive sustainable port transformations in Central Norrland. This event marks a significant step toward aligning regional efforts with the broader goals of sustainable shipping and renewable energy adoption.
