Showcasing Sustainable Solutions at SIG-A2

Last week, from April 8 to 10, 2025, the University of Antwerp hosted the SIG-A2 (Special Interest Group A2) Conference. The three-day international conference brought together maritime researchers and professionals to explore topics such as green technologies in shipping, maritime economics, and the future of port operations.

The Blue Supply Chains project was represented with a presentation on accelerating green bunkering and charging in ports. The conference paper, co-authored by Linda Styhre, Julia Hansson, Karl Jivén, and Elin Malmgren, focused on a strategy to support the transition of ports into renewable energy hubs. The strategy was developed in the BSC project through a participatory process involving stakeholders across the maritime value chain, showing how Northern European ports can start the transition to zero-emission shipping.

The presentation, delivered by Elin Malmgren, was well received and complemented other conference contributions by offering a practical and collaborative approach to sustainable port development.
