International Collaboration Takes Center Stage at NFM Program Experience Exchange Event

Saulkrasti, Latvia (June 12, 2024) – The Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 program “Climate Change Mitigation, Adaptation, and Environment” (NFM Program), facilitated by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, hosted a successful international experience exchange event on June 12th.

The event brought together representatives from Norway, recipient countries of the European Economic Area, and 10 countries awarded Norwegian grants. Participants engaged in a rich exchange of knowledge and best practices, fostering potential collaborations.

Saulkrasti Showcases Environmental Stewardship and Tourism Sustainability

The event unfolded in Saulkrasti, Latvia, where participants had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the municipality’s dedication to environmental protection and coastal management. A highlight was the presentation. Saulkrasti, as a project partner, provided valuable insights into the project’s goals and accomplishments.

Fostering Partnerships for a Sustainable Future

The event sparked significant interest in future collaborations. Representatives from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (Ministry of Climate and Energy) and the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre expressed keen interest in contributing to the Baltic Interreg project BEACH SOS. Additionally,participants explored potential partnerships with Saulkrasti municipality and The Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS) on future environmental initiatives.

This international experience exchange event underscores the NFM Program’s commitment to fostering collaboration and accelerating progress towards a more sustainable future. By sharing knowledge and expertise, participating countries can collectively tackle environmental challenges and develop innovative solutions.
