Technical details

Located by the serene Lake Saimaa in Finland, Neitsytniemi Manor, together with Päivi-Angervo, combines history and nature into a memorable adventure. One of the BASCIL pilot companies, Päivi-Angervo, dressed as the manor’s historical hostess, leads visitors on a fascinating journey through time and taste. Guests learn about wild herbs — how they were used in the past, their benefits, and simple ways to use them today.

During the tour, visitors enjoy herbal tea and pastries made with the very same herbs they have learned about. It is a chance to taste, smell, and experience nature’s pure treasures while hearing the captivating stories of the manor.

“The manor’s rich history and the endless uses for wild herbs make this experience truly one of a kind,” says Päivi Maaranen, owner of Päivi-Angervo. “It is more than a tour — it is a way to connect with the past and discover how nature can still inspire us today.”

Designed for adult groups with a love for natural and sustainable living, this tour reflects the growing desire to reconnect with the environment. As part of the BASCIL project, this collaboration between Päivi-Angervo and Neitsytniemi Manor shows how tradition and creativity can come together to create engaging, market-ready experiences.

Whether you’re passionate about history, fascinated by wild herbs, or simply looking for a unique way to enjoy nature, the tour offers inspiration, learning, and a flavorful slice of the past.
