Project Meeting In Rauma a Midpoint Milestone

17 April 2025
Technical details

From April 9th to 11th the partners came together for the 3rd project meeting, marking the halfway point of our project. This time the meeting took place in the idyllic city of Rauma on the west coast of Finland.

The first day was arranged as a very hands-on experience with full mission bridge simulations, where the project partners themselves got the opportunity to use the products (S-101, S-102) at SAMKs Maritime Simulators, which gave them valuable insight into the functionality of piloting the early versions of the products.

Participants also had the opportunity to observe a pilot session in action performed by Captain Mika Lindfors, Captain Janne Lahtinen and a Maritime Student of SAMK. Mika Lindfors shared his view on his experience with the new S-101 and S-102. “The difference is considerable; it is as if the headlights of the car got brighter, and the view got clearer”

The full mission bridge simulations added an immersive dimension to the experience, enabling the project partners to observe and interact with complex maritime scenarios in a controlled environment. These sessions provided valuable perspectives on operational dynamics and prompted meaningful conversations about the further development and adjustments of the products.

Another topic that was handled during the meeting was the harmonization process of the products, which is a very important step towards aligning the product standards. The conversation was organized as a workshop where key findings were first presented, then smaller groups were formed based on expertise. The participants reviewed the feedback and began discussing the steps needed to ensure optimal groundwork for the harmonization across the products.

As the meeting was a symbolic milestone for the half-way point of the project, there was also time to open conversations about the future of the project, strategic reflections and the outcomes of the work done so far.

The next face to face project meeting will take place in Latvia, marking the 4th period of the project.
