Technical details

On the 3rd of December 2025, the Smart Maritime Future in the Baltic Sea Region – Joint Project Seminar took place in Copenhagen at the Danish Royal Library. The seminar was conceptualized between the three Interreg Baltic Sea Region projects, MaDaMe, Baltic Sea e-Nav, and ORMOBASS to communicate the outcomes so far and the future directions of the projects into 2026.

The organisation of the seminar was a genuinely collaborative effort between the three project teams. Despite each project having different priorities, timelines, and communication needs, the cooperation was remarkably smooth. Throughout the planning process, partners approached the work with openness, a positive attitude, and a shared motivation to create a meaningful and well-balanced programme. This collective commitment made it possible to shape an event that reflected the interests of all three projects as equally as possible while still delivering a coherent and engaging experience for participants.

A total of 69 people attended the seminar in Copenhagen, and the livestream from the main stage also saw strong engagement with 65 online participants.

The event consisted of a morning session where all three projects were presented, followed by an afternoon with three parallel sessions offering workshops, technical demonstrations, panel discussions, and additional project presentations. The seminar was moderated by PA Safe Coordinator Ulf Siwe, who skillfully guided the panel discussions and Q&A sessions.

Among the participants was Magnus Wallhagen, National Hydrographer of Sweden and IHO HSSC Chair. He presented an overview of the S-100 standard in the morning session and joined a panel discussion in the afternoon. Wallhagen noted that one of the highlights of his week was participating in the seminar and getting to try out Furuno’s S-100 ECDIS prototype.

The strong participation, expert contributions, and active collaboration across the three projects underline the importance of continued collaborative work in the Baltic Sea Region.
