APRIORA's BSR-wide roll out - Successful Webinar
03 February 2026
– A crucial step forward to a successful BSR-wide roll-out – APRIORA webinar attracted about 80 participants
Telling the project story outside the consortium to engage cooperation
Transfer is key to the success and sustainable implementation of all Interreg Baltic Sea Region -funded projects. This is also the case for APRIORA. After an intense period of preparation and piloting the solution, we asked ourselves how to reach out to our target groups and generate interest in our work. More importantly, how can we encourage more stakeholders to try out our solution and establish new collaborations across the BSR?
After a successful workshop in the event, ‘The Future of Water in a Changing World: Innovations in PFAS and Micropollutants’, organised by EMPEREST and APRIORA in Berlin on 19–20 November 2025, we decided to offer an online introduction to the project contents.
Outreach webinar as easy-access opportunity for international target groups
The webinar took place on 15 December 2025. It was organised by Syke (FI), EPO-ELY (FI) and the University of Rostock (DE), with presentations also from UBA (DE). During the registration phase, our expectations for the event kept only rising with the constantly rising number of registrants, eventually reaching over 100. Circa 80 of them participated the transnational event. The webinar had participants from all the Baltic Sea coastal EU member state (Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Sweden), as well as some from Slovakia. Participants represented various stakeholders, including national and regional authorities, water utilities, national research organisations, ministries, universities and medical products agencies.

…about the participating stakeholders/type of organisations.
During the webinar, we presented the APRIORA risk assessment framework and demonstrated its implementation through the QGIS plugin. We also shared the initial results of the pilot study and the lessons learned, and outlined our capacity-building programme. Participants gained insights into our effective micropollutant management tools, learned about the practical applications of pilot studies and contributed to discussions on improving water management strategies. We were very happy to notice the active participation and interest of the webinar attendees. We received very positive and constructive feedback regarding our outputs, and participants expressed a keen interest in follow-up events such as national workshops and in-depth webinars.
Continuing Cooperations
Responses to our webinar feedback survey showed that there is interest towards our risk assessment framework outside our project consortium and even outside the countries represented in our project. We hope to engage several external stakeholders to establish new partnerships for testing the tools in their own regions.
We are excited to explore new approaches to knowledge transfer across the BSR and to see how APRIORA can finally help reduce pollution in our waters. Would you like to find out more? Take a look at our webinar material below and get in touch at any time. We look forward to hearing your perspectives, too!
