
Sustainable Food Packaging at schools in Lahti, Finland

In collaboration with Päijät-Häme Ateriapalvelut, the Change(K)Now! project partners Smart & Lean Hub Oy and the Regional Council of Päijät-Häme are testing green public procurement criteria to help large production kitchens order food in more environmentally friendly packaging and to implement circular food delivery systems in Lahti, Finland. In particular, it will address the largest production kitchen, which supplies more than 40 service kitchens for schools and kindergartens.

- “Institutional Catering Food Packaging and Circularity” awareness raising and training program

- November 2024 – November 2025
Aim(-s):
- The development of sustainable food packaging criteria to reduce packaging waste and promote transition towards Green Public Procurement.
- The reduction of packaging waste and the use of reusable packaging.
- To raise awareness among the different stakeholders involved in the process.
