The Riga City Festival 2025
30 October 2025
The Riga City Festival 2025 is one of Latvia’s largest public events, held across several city locations.
System tested:
- A decentralized deposit cup system (returns can only be made at the issuing stand). 2 Euro for deposit.
When:
- 16 August 2025
Aim:
The festival served as a testbed to assess whether a decentralized return model could function during a large open-air event while reducing disposable beverage packaging.
Results:
The pilot demonstrated that visitors are generally willing to participate in reuse systems when they are simple and clearly communicated.
