Recups and Rebowls in School Cantine​ in Hamburg

In collaboration with the vocational school Berufliche Schule BS 32 An der Landwehr in Hamburg, the Change(K)now! project partner Oekomarkt e.V. ​tested the introduction of recups for hot beverages ​and rebowls for milk rice and cous cous salad​ instead of single use cups and bowls.

What was tested and evaluated:

• Recups & rebowls in secondary high-school cantine​. Deposit system: 1 € per cup and 1 € per lid, 5 € for Rebowl incl. lid​.

Aim:

To introduce circular system in the public school catering while encouraging behavioural change among students and staff.

Results:

The pilots demonstrated that reusable deposit systems can significantly reduce disposable packaging when integrated into everyday school catering. Return infrastructure and clear communication strongly influence participation and return rates.
