CompositeCircle @ Centria Open Doors
Project: CompositeCircle
Physical Meeting
09. October 2025
12:00 - 16:00 (EET)
The growing volume of fibre-reinforced composite waste, particularly from wind turbine blades and other large-scale applications, presents a significant environmental and industrial challenge. Current recycling methods are limited, and without scalable solutions, valuable materials are lost and landfill pressure increases. This workshop focuses on solvolysis technologies, where the resin in composite materials is chemically “dissolved,” allowing for the recovery of both fibres and resin for reuse.
13:00 Welcome and introduction to the ongoing development on establishing recycling routes for composite waste in Baltic Sea countries. Centria UAS, Dr.Egidija Rainosalo, Finland
13:15 Fibre reinforced composite recycling scenarios. Aarhus University, Dr. Michail Beliatis, Denmark
13:30 Composite Recycling and the Law: Enabler or Obstacle? (speaker will be announced later)
13:45 Chemical recycling approaches for plastics, valorisation pathways, and challenges, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.
14:00 Liquid disassembly of Turbine Blades and other composites, opportunities and challenges. Dannish Technological Institute (DTI), M.Sc., Eng. Jakob Rørbæk Saugbjerg, Denmark
14:20 Break
14:50 New composites using solvolysis products – fibres and resins. Noma Resins Ltd, Dr. Bartłomiej Bereska, Poland
15:05 Circular Carbon Fibers from eco-friendly Solvolysis. Catact-H Ltd., Hendrik Neuhaus, South Korea
15:20 Panel discussion on the role of chemical industry, composite manufacturers and other stakeholders on value chain creation
16:00 End of the event
