On 6 October, Interreg Baltic Sea Region Managing Authority/Joint Secretariat and the Riga City Council will organise the project visits. These projects exemplify the benefits of Interreg transnational cooperation and showcase achievements and new plans for green and inclusive development in the region.
The event will be attended by participants from the European Commission, members of the Programme Monitoring Committee, and the coordinators of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, all eager to delve into the success stories of three projects that involve cities from around the Baltic Sea: NonHazCity, cities.multimodal, and KidsLikeUs.
The NonHazCity project has not only empowered nine municipalities to develop effective chemical action plans to reduce hazardous substances entering the Baltic Sea but has also trained numerous small businesses and households to minimize their emissions. This initiative is making a real impact in safeguarding the health of our Sea!
Meanwhile, the cities.multimodal project has been working tirelessly to provide environmentally friendly alternatives to driving. Through this project, partner cities have enhanced sustainable urban mobility planning for multimodal. We will visit the mobility point launched in the VEF district of Riga, offering convenient bicycle parking spaces, a bicycle repair station, and even a rental point!
We'll also be visiting the KidsLikeUs project at the Children's Hospital. This project has been developing tools to support children facing trauma as they integrate into new environments. Their inspiring work is creating a brighter future for these young ones.
