Transnational Seminar - Developing the Pipeline of Key Business and Manufacturing Processes

The CIRC-2-ZERO project held its Transnational Seminar on 15 January 2026 as an online event hosted by project partner Luleå University of Technology (LTU).

The seminar focused on collaboratively developing a draft pipeline of critical business and manufacturing processes for future implementation. Project partners shared and jointly analyzed collected data, findings, and results from the project activities to identify critical processes and determine how these inputs should be integrated into the draft pipeline.

Connecting project data to the process pipeline

The seminar brought together findings from data scouting and material assessment, mapping of critical business and manufacturing processes, assessment of existing circularity tools, and the ongoing development of the Digital Twin Demo Platform (DTDP).

Partners discussed how these different inputs can be connected and translated into a coherent process pipeline addressing the needs of SMEs in the Electronics and Engineered Wood Product (EWP) sectors.

Digital Twin Demo Platform

The seminar also explored the proposed structure of the Digital Twin Demo Platform and how it can support the identified business and manufacturing processes.

The DTDP is being developed as an accessible decision-support environment for SMEs to explore circular product design and value-chain scenarios. The proposed structure includes two main areas/modules: Circular Product Design and Circular Value Chain, bringing together tools for areas such as material selection, lifecycle evaluation, scenario planning, value-chain mapping and stakeholder analysis.

The discussion helped connect the platform's development with the data and critical processes identified through the project's earlier activities.

Towards a jointly developed pipeline

By bringing together the collected data, mapped processes, assessed tools, and DTDP development work, the Transnational Seminar provided a common basis for partners to jointly analyze how these elements should be integrated.

The seminar marked an important step towards the co-design of a draft pipeline of critical business and manufacturing processes, which will guide the next stages of CIRC-2-ZERO and its work towards practical circular economy solutions for SMEs.
