Advancing the DTDP: Key Insights from the Second Technical Seminar on Tool Evaluation

K8 hosted the second Technical Seminar – Tool evaluation, bringing together 20 participants from project partner organizations. The online event was an important part of the Digital Twin Demo Platform (DTDP) development, as in the event different digital tools were pitched and then evaluated with regards to their potential for integration into the DTDP.

Objective

The seminar focused on getting feedback on possible digital tool integrations and identifying the most promising ones.

Outline of Seminar

K8 presented the agenda and outline of the Technical Seminar II. In the seminar, the host presented together with two other project partners, HBK Saar and RTU, already existing and available digital tools that would be beneficial to integrate into the DTDP. Tools presented are helpful for the Electronic and Engineered Wood Product (EWP) sector SMEs in the development of business towards more sustainable and efficient operationsExamples included very technical tools, such as OpenMDAO, but also very closely related tools such as Madaster. All together seven digital tools were presented and evaluated.

Following each tool presentation, participants submitted their feedback via a feedback form prepared by K8. Feedback questions focused on benefit of the respective functionality for SMEs. feasibility of integration into the DTDP and a general prioritization. Responses will now be analyzed to create compound results.

Additional tools, which were not pitched during this Seminar, might be revisited at a later stage. The outcomes of this seminar represent a significant contribution to the DTDP development process, as they will inform the selection and integration of digital tools to be implemented on the platform.
