Shaping Resilience: The Role of Art & Culture in Public Space

We are excited to invite you to the first online meeting of the joint Liveable Cities, NEBHUB 2050/ Future Cities Community!

How can art and culture in public space contribute to societal resilience?

For this first session, we are very pleased to welcome Trevor Davies, who will share his experiences and reflections on the role of art and culture in shaping public spaces and resilient communities. Trevor Davies is an urban planner, cultural strategist and curator with almost 50 years of experience working at the intersection of art, culture and urban development. He is the founder and artistic director of Københavns Internationale Teater (KIT) and a key figure behind Metropolis, Copenhagen’s platform for performance and art in public space.

Through his work with Metropolis, Trevor has explored how artistic interventions can create new relationships between people, places and the city, and how culture can contribute to urban development and social change. He has also served as Secretary General of Copenhagen European Capital of Culture 1996 and as project manager for Aarhus European Capital of Culture 2017.

Trevor will share examples and thoughts on how art and cultural interventions can transform public spaces, bring people together and help communities respond to change and uncertainty. His input will be followed by an open discussion and Q&A with participants, creating space to exchange experiences, questions and perspectives from different cities and contexts.

About the Future Cities Community

The Future Cities Community brings together people from different networks, projects and cities to exchange experiences and explore questions around how we can shape more liveable, resilient and future-oriented cities. Rather than creating another parallel network, the community connects and builds on existing communities, including the Liveable Cities Network and NEBHUB 2050.
