Description
On 7 and 8 October, the lead partner, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Tourism and Employment, organized a peer review visit to Neustrelitz as part of the “Green Industrial Areas” project. Project partners from Denmark (Kalundborg Symbiosis), Finland (City of Jyväskylä), Lithuania (Lithuanian Innovation Center) and Latvia (Zemgale Planning Region) traveled to Neustrelitz to visit the industrial area and exchange ideas.
The project partners were given an overview of Neustrelitz during a city tour and then visited the industrial area. In the industrial area, the partners were able to get in touch with the topic of renewable energies at the Education Center for Renewable Energies and get in the mood for the workshop. In the workshop, the group discussed the pilot measures planned and implemented in Neustrelitz. As the industrial area is mainly a green space, the visitors to Neustrelitz were mainly in the theoretical realm and discussed the industrial area in abstract terms. The data for the pilot measures was provided by a feasibility study carried out by the regional energy supplier.
The visit was characterized by productive discussions and valuable insights that contribute to the ongoing efforts to promote sustainable industrial practices. Overall, good approaches and ideas for marketing the region were found. In addition, the criteria of the project were worked on in detail.
