Description

CIRC-2-ZERO I Workshop – KPI Identification: Exploration phase

9 April at 12:30 –14:30 (EEST, online)

The CIRC-2-ZERO Project held Activity A1.5 first Workshop on 9 April. The objective of this two-hour workshop was to systematically define a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for monitoring and evaluating the Digital Twin Demo Platform (DTDP). KPIs are measurable values that organizations, teams, or individuals use to track how well they are achieving important goals.

This online workshop was internal and organized in Teams. Participants represented almost all project partners, with areas of expertise including circularity, energy, economics, and business. The participants worked in three smaller groups in breakout rooms and on the Miro platform to complete the tasks given.

The participants divided into three groups were:

  1. Technical Performance

This dimension focused on the platform’s technical performance, assessing availability, speed, scalability, system integration and reliability.

      2. Usability and Usage

This dimension focused on the user experience, evaluating ease of use, user engagement, feature relevance and platform adoption based on actual usage data.

      3. Value Impact

This dimension focused on the economic value of the DTDP, assessing whether it creates tangible benefits such as cost savings, better decision-making, and increased adoption for users and businesses.

In these three groups participants were identifying and generating an initial list of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) covering the three evaluation dimensions (i.e., technical performance, usability and value impact). This session focused on idea generation, leveraging experts’ contributions to identify relevant KPIs.

All steps in this workshop were conducted using the Miro platform:

  1. First step was a silent idea generation: Participants were individually and silently generating potential KPIs for each of the three evaluation dimensions (i.e., technical performance, usability and value impact).
  2. Next was round-robin sharing: Each participant took turns sharing one KPI at a time.

  3. And final step was elimination of redundancies: After all KPIs were shared, the group worked together to identify and eliminate redundant KPIs. This step ensuree that only the most relevant KPIs remained.

The results of the I Workshop will be used in the II Workshop, which will be held on 16 April 2026. This next workshop will focus on prioritization, refinement and validation of KPIs.
