FoodLoops workshop on food origin and farming

Description

The Savonia UAS carries out a workshop for students and teachers in Classical High School of Kuopio. The event will focus on farming industry, food origin, food production and consumption as well as biowaste valorisation. To familiarize students with primary food production, the workshop will be held at a farm in Siilinjärvi (neighboring municipality of Kuopio). Harri Tuomainen, the owner of the farm, will introduce participants to milk production, robotic barn and grain farming.

The event will offer students, teachers and FoodLoops project an opportunity to brainstorm ideas on how to integrate various aspects of food value chain across school curriculum. The project will also organize vegetarian food tastings at schools to broaden students' understanding of sustainable and healthy eating.
